The cannula is a tool that helps loosen the fatty tissue that is being removed. After the desired amount of fatty tissue have been removed, Dr. Alex Mesbahi will close the incision. Depending on the amount of areas treated, your procedure could last several hours. In the separate recovery area, your post-op team will help manage any pain and care for your incisions until your discharge.

VASER high-definition liposuction utilizes ultrasound-assisted energy to safely and effectively target fat cells. A huge advantage of VASER is that it offers three-dimensional results and enables Dr. Mesbahi to work in specific areas without harming the surrounding tissue. It is considered an outpatient procedure and is performed under general anesthesia. At the start of your procedure, a tumescent saline solution will be injected into the designated treatment area. What about loose skin?
Surgical liposuction only corrects excess fat. For loose skin, Dr. Mesbahi may recommend combining liposuction with a surgical body lift. Lipo is often done along with skin tightening surgery, like a tummy tuck, arm lift, or thighplasty, to give you your best results. 

Will I have scars?
Since liposuction is a surgical procedure, incisions will be made and sutured. This will leave scars; however, Dr. Mesbahi does his best to reduce their appearance. This starts with making thin incisions in the natural folds of your body or in less visible areas. After your surgery, Dr. Mesbahi or a member of our team will teach you how to care for your incisions so they heal flat and eventually fade.

How long will my results last?
Before liposuction, it is important to be prepared to maintain your results. Although liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in your body, you can still gain and lose weight. Dr. Mesbahi recommends that you be at or near a healthy weight before having liposuction. Afterward, it's best to remain within 5 – 10 pounds of your post-surgical weight. Pregnancy after liposuction will also affect your results; however, a second surgery can be done to refresh your appearance.
