Rhinoplasty

As one of the most commonly performed procedures in cosmetic surgery, rhinoplasty can effectively enhance a person’s nose to improve facial balance and increase self-confidence. Often referred to as nose surgery, this procedure can also correct functional issues of the inner nasal cavity.

The Benifits of Rhinoplasty

  • Increases self-esteem and confidence
  • Improves harmony with the rest of the facial features
  • Relieves breathing problems

CHOOSING THE RIGHT RHINOPLASTY TECHNIQUE

OPEN RHINOPLASTY

During an open rhinoplasty, Dr. Mesbahi makes an inconspicuous incision along the columella (thin strip of tissue between the nostrils). The skin is then lifted to fully access and reshape the underlying structures of the nose.
  • Allows for full visualization and access of the nasal structures
  • Longer surgical time
  • Longer recovery

CLOSED RHINOPLASTY

During a closed rhinoplasty, Dr. Mesbahi makes incisions within the nostrils and then reshapes the underlying structures of the nose. The closed rhinoplasty results in no visible scarring.
  • No visible scarring
  • Shorter surgical time
  • Shorter recovery

VECTRA® 3D IMAGING

Vectra® 3D Imaging is an innovative technology that allows patients to see the results of their rhinoplasty before undergoing the procedure.

The VECTRA® 3D Imaging proccess can be explained in three easy steps

A.
Along with the size and shape of the nose, a rhinoplasty can improve the following:
  • • Tip
  • • Nostrils
  • • Bridge
  • • Angle
  • • Projection
A.
A septoplasty can also be performed to correct a deviated septum by straightening the nasal passage, which will improve breathing.
A.
There is not a specific age requirement for rhinoplasty candidates, but most patients are at least 15 years of age. Rhinoplasty candidates should be physically healthy and desire the procedure for their own personal desires rather than to meet someone else’s aspirations.
A.
Rhinoplasty usually takes between one and two hours to complete, depending on the technique used and the amount of correction needed.
A.
Once rhinoplasty is complete, the nose is covered with bandages, and a splint is placed to support the nose as it heals. Most patients can return to work after about one week when the majority of swelling resolves. The nose may continue to change slightly over the next year as the healing process becomes complete.
A.
You will be able to see the initial results of your rhinoplasty immediately after the bandages and splint are removed. The results of your rhinoplasty will continue to improve over the coming weeks and months as the swelling and bruising subside, although it may take up to a year to see the final results.
A.
The results of rhinoplasty are meant to be permanent. However, slight changes may occur over time as the nose continues to age naturally with the rest of the facial features.
A.
Dr. Mesbahi specializes in both primary and revision rhinoplasty. Primary rhinoplasty involves the correction of irregularities patients are born with or may have suffered from a previous trauma such as a broken nose. Revision rhinoplasty involves the correction of irregularities seen following a previous rhinoplasty procedure. These procedures are typically more complex than a primary rhinoplasty and are often completed with use of cartilage grafts taken from the ear or rib.
